Using human physiology for client types, we can establish some color schemes that may attractive to your target audience.  The affluent client will attracted to variations of green, while the vacation client may more attracted to tropical schemes.

Where Do Live? What Is The Claim To Fame In Your City?

Many people do not give much thought to this, but it’s a great secret to unveil!  Is there a sport that is super popular in your town or city? Is there a certain monument, activity, place or thing that your city or town is known for? You can easily extract themes and colors from this huge town or city love in order to attract your potential clients! Example: We created a fabulous CMS website for a client who’s pet sitting business was named after the “Bay” in which they lived.  We took the scheme of Bay, Beach, Sand, Sun, Travel, Good Times and created an amazing themed website that will surely attract those land on her website – take a look! http://baypetsit.com this is a great way to really personalize your pet website while capturing and captivating!

What Are You Selling?

I call it the “Warm and Fuzzies” for pet businesses. You are selling security, love, and care.  Your clients will surely love and adore their pets – therefore your website can reflect many colors that attract care, love, trust, professionalism, and security.  Research colors after you define your services and the feelings you want to portray with your services.

Feelings?

Yep. Feelings!  What do you want your client to FEEL when they land on your website? Do you want them to feel happy, secure, warm, trusting etc – as per the above paragraph where we talked about your services related to color, let’s take feelings and relate them to colors.  Again, research colors to see what color schemes would be suit all that you need and want to incorporate into your website.

What colors come to mind for you?

Yes, why not? This is a great opportunity for you to SELL your business through your amazing care notes that you leave for your clients.  Now, I know – and I know first hand that writing care notes, day after day, visit after visit can be a bit repetitive, especially when the visits are the same for a paticilar pet. It’s okay and I’m sure the client know this and is not expecting fido to be suddenly learning to walk on his hind legs while they are at work. ( funny huh? ) Anyways, it’s YOUR attitude I want to focus on here with care notes – you can change the way you use this little feature and create super duper individualized business with your out-of-the-box thinking that reflects YOUR company. What would these ideas be? Well, those i will save for another post – There’s no sense in letting all the cats out of the bag ( pun intended ) because that would be too easy. Instead, I wish stimulate your creativity but encouraging and suggesting that you focus on the following questions below and come up with a fabulous blog post for your website – the GOOD in this is that you will INTRIGUE ( my favorite word again ) your potential client to see that these special care notes that your business leaves are not just notes, but KEEPSAKES!.

  1. Why do you even have care notes? Seriously, ask yourself this. Truthfully answer this question. What is the real reason behind having care notes in your pet business?
  2. What benefit do you feel the clients get? Have you thought about that?
  3. Do you think they keep them?
  4. Are you happy with the way your IC’s or Employee’s write their notes? Fair question!
  5. Can you think of a way to SPICE UP your care note writing for yourself, your IC’s , Your employees?
  6. How can you market your care notes and make YOURS better then your competition?

BLOG THIS ! Brought to you by Laura Taylor – PetBiz Branding Web and Pet Business Designer. Encouraging Pet Sitters to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!

And that is my opinion!

Why so negative? Well, to be quite honest – my first real in depth experience with Yahoo Hosting only just happened.  I had just finished the creation of a new CMS WordPress Pet Sitting Website for a client and was ready to do the installation on the clients web host ( yahoo hosting ).  I was taken by surprise when I encountered the inability to install WordPress on the root domain. What is this? I couldn’t believe it! – I mean it allows you to choose WordPress’s index.php as your home page, but will not allow all the files for WordPress to be installed on the root domain – forcing a sub-domain installation. YUCK! Where’s the freedom I yelled! I was shocked to be honest!  My business is creating and re-creating pet business and pet related websites and blogs for pet business clients – offering them the flexibility and freedom to host where they are comfortable *if* they are happy and satisfied where they are – great! But Ugg!! This really sucks for clients who have a comfort zone with a host and the way they operate. Needless to say – our client will be hosting with us here at PetBiz Branding and will be a super happy gal – but all I have to say is this:

Tooda-loo Yahoo!

Good title don’t you think? Did I capture you attention? I sure hope so :-) . You’re probably wondering what wacky comparison I must have for the “Sun Shinning” and your “Website”?. Should be pretty easy – basically, when you land on your website does it give you that warm and fuzzy, feels like home, bright and colorful feeling? In other words, does it feel like the sun is shinning on your pet business website?.  If you hum and haw , then chances are – it’s probably not shinning bright enough!

Take a look at http://www.alitiasanimals.com – now this is a sunny place to be don’t you think?

A Little Sun Adds A Little More Sales!

As mentioned in other articles I’ve written, your pet website is your #1 marketing tool. It’s like your business card online and it speaks for you. Ensuring your website portrays and projects the warm and fuzzy feeling to your potential client is going to increase your pet business income and put more money in your pocket.   I’d like to play a little game with readers, this entails a little fun work if you dare play. First, do a search and find the first 3 pet websites that show up in a google search. Use whatever key words you like – then do your analysis of the websites in regards to your FIRST INITIAL IMPRESSION AND FEELING. Did those 3 sites give you the warm and fuzzy feeling? Would you describe those sites as having some “Sun” shining on it’s pages?. Just a little something to get you thinking.

What were your findings? Note: Do not list the sites you visited – that’s not fair. Keep it to yourself, instead just refer to where you visited as being A, B and C while describing your experience.

And so the saying goes!. We all know that Google likes new content on your website, but quite often with Pet Sitter and Dog Walker business websites, we rarely see much in the way of increased and frequently changed content. Why is that? Perhaps it’s because we offer a “service” or a variety of “services”. We are set in our structure, set in the services we provide, set in our prices, times and when we offer the service. This can easily lead a “stale” mind – or in other words lack of inspiration to even consider adding content to your site – other then pet pictures. This brings me to why “Content is King” but not so much from a SEO stand point but from a “Selling Your Pet Business Services” stand point.

Intrigue Me!

This is what I think when I go to a website. You better impress me. You better make me want to stay at your website and explore your pages and even more so you better make me want to come back to your website. So what does “Content Is King” have to do with intriguing a potential client? Simple. The more “relative” information that you can feed your desired clients the more you capture their attention, the more you opportunity you have to “sell” yourself, your pet business, your services. The potential client learns about you, your expertise, your experiences, the benefits and the features of your pet business and your services. This provides you the ability to also convince your potential clients that you are the pet business to contact for services.

Comfort and Family

Okay, so it sounds strange to say this but lets face it, selling pet care services is considered “warm and fuzzy” and you are dealing with hearts. By increasing your content through writing and sharing a variety of relative experiences on your website you are creating a sense of comfort and in return creating a sense in the potential client to want to become a part of your “family” – especially when they hear of your experiences with other clients pets.

Trust

You are the expert. You have the no-how and the knowledge. You are a REAL person with a REAL business and provide a REAL and needed service that WILL benefit the client and his or her pets. By thinking “Trust” in your writings and content on your pet business website – you provide the opportunity to your potential client to learn to trust in you and your company.

SEO

Lastly, yes, SEO. Search Engine Optimization is something you must always be thinking about as a pet business. If you are serious about your pet business website being used as your number 1 tool for your sales, you need let the search engines know your website is important and is worthy of indexing. Relative content is that is purposeful to your overall goal, website and clients is the key.

Get Rid Of Junk

A word of caution:. Do not make the mistake of cramming your website with junk information. Do not make the mistake of overwhelming your clients with repetitive information, dull and non interesting content that has nothing to do with your overall goal of your pet website and the desire to impress your clients. You don’t want to scare them away. Make your content to the point, interesting to read, and PURPOSEFUL!.
